Transportation
• The Richmond Region is located within one day’s drive of half the U.S. population and is easily accessible from Interstates 64, 85, 95 and 295.
• The Region is serviced by two Amtrak stations , one Greyhound bus station and the Richmond International Airport (RIC) , used by approximately 3.5 million passengers each year. Air carriers servicing RIC include American Airlines, Continental, Delta, Northwest Airlines, United and USAirways, AirCanada, and low-cost carriers AirTran and JetBlue .
• The Richmond Region offers the cultural and recreational opportunities of a large city with minimal traffic. The Atlantic Ocean, Blue Ridge mountains and Washington, D.C. are all within a two-hour drive.
Hotels
• The Richmond Region has more than 18,000 hotel rooms and 900 restaurants with prices to fit every budget.
• The Jefferson Hotel is one of 33 hotels in North America to carry both the Mobil 5-star and AAA 5-diamond rating.
National Rankings
• Dow Jones MarketWatch ranked Richmond 14th for “Best Metro Center for Business” in Dec. 2009.
• Forbes.com ranked Richmond as one of the nation's "100 Best Bang-For-The-Buck Cities" in 2009.
• Trail Runner ranked Richmond as one of the nation's "Top Seven Cities for Trail Runners" in 2009.
• MovieMaker named Richmond one of the nation's "Top 10 Cities for Filmmakers" in 2011.
• Virginia Commonwealth University Health System is the only academic medical center in Central Virginia and is regularly ranked among the top hospitals in America. VCU School of Medicine is one of the nation’s largest medical schools and houses one of the nation’s oldest transplant programs.
Sports
• The Region hosts a variety of sporting events throughout the year, including two NASCAR races, and is home to minor league sports teams Richmond Flying Squirrels (baseball), Richmond Revolution (arena football) and Richmond Kickers (soccer).
Attractions
• There are more than 80 attractions in the Richmond Region. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Henricus Historical Park, the James River, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Kings Dominion and numerous Civil War sites are just a small sampling of all the Region has to offer.
