Civil War and Emancipation 150th

To highlight the Richmond Region's pivotal role and commemorate the ending of slavery in America, Virginia is observing the Civil War and Emancipation 150th Anniversary from 2011 to 2015.

Maharaja: The Splendors of India's Great Kings

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts will be hosting the only East Coast exhibition of 200 Indian and European works, depicting the fascinating art and material culture of India's maharajas or "great kings". Items on display include a royal elephant saddle, a golden throne, a silver horse-drawn carriage and jewels from princely collections.
