2014 was a wild, wonderful, amazing year in the Richmond Region. The Region continues to offer down home country food that garners national attention and is home to some of the most innovative chefs in the country. Our beer wins accolades and fans far and wide. Our natural resources, our river and trails, continue to be lauded by all who set foot, hip wader and kayak on or in them.

And our people, the innovators, the creators, the makers and doers, the brewers and sewers, are still the most valuable resource in the Richmond Region. So here's to you RVA and here's to all the folks outside the River City who realized something special is going on here and tried to tell as many people as possible.

We're a Top Destination!

The Richmond Region started 2014 off with a bang when Frommers named us at "Top Destination for 2014" with locations like Rio and Sarajevo. They said "While you weren't looking, Richmond got cool." 

We're a city You Should See on a Bike

At least Buzzfeed thinks so, which is why they included us on a list of "10 Cities You Should Explore on Two Wheels."

Our Marathon Rules

Business Insider named the Anthem Richmond Marathon one of the best marathons for 2014.

We've got great gardens

USA Today named Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens one of the 10 Best Public Gardens in the entire country in 2014.

It was kind of a crazy year for our food

CNN said we were one of "7 Up and Coming Foodie Destinations"


Zagat gave a huge shout out to Church Hill in October as one of "10 Hot Food Neighborhoods Around the US"

Plate Magazine called Lee Gregory of the Roosevelt a "Chef to Watch" in September.


The Huffpo said we were an "Under the Radar Food City" in September.


Departures Magazine said we were the "Next Great American Food City", but you already knew that.


Sugar Shack was named one of the "10 Tastiest Doughnut Shops in the US" by USA Today.

It was a big year for beer

Bon Apetit said Strangeways was one of "10 New Breweries to Watch".


Mekong is still the Best Beer Bar in America.


Hardywood Gingerbread Stout made the list of Richard Christy's "10 Favorite Beers of 2014" at Metal Insider.


We also landed a little company called Stone Brewing in October.
