Dominion Riverrock is coming. Next month, May 15-17, will see the country's premier outdoor sport and music festival return to the Richmond Region. There's gonna be dog sports, there's gonna be slacklining, there's gonna be stand up paddleboarding and there's gonna be 90's alt rockers rocking the stage. We suggest you register for (or watch) these 5 Dominion Riverrock Events!
This isn't your average charity fun run: "be prepared to trudge through the James River, rock hop across the dry way and climb, crawl and leap over other natural obstacles along the course. There may be an ice cold beer awaiting you (if you're 21, of course), but first you have to crawl through a massive mud pit at the finish line to crawl through a massive mud pit at the finish line!"
Have some pals who are good with a compass? This is the event for you: "This adventure race is a multisport event where not only will your speed be tested, but also your capacity to work as a team, read a map and compass, make the right decisions, and endure along a course throughout Richmond."
Want to challenge competitors on the best urban trail system in the country? Sign up: "The James River Park trails will give local mountain bikers and visiting riders alike a chance to test their skills. The rock gardens, short steep climbs, creek crossings, fast downhills, and twisty single track are both technically challenging and physically demanding."
Want to race but wanna stay dry and feel challenged? The 10k is probably for you: "Along the course you may encounter roots, gravel, rough terrain, low-hanging branches and possibly stray bulldogs. Up for the challenge? You'll get to experience firsthand some of RVA's best outdoor gems including the Canal Walk, the James River Park System, Belle Isle and the Floodwall."
Ok this isn't really an event and you don't have to register, but it's proof that there's something for everyone at Riverrrock. There's gonna be people hanging from bouldering walls, slackliners, dogs jumping and flying through the air and your favorite band with harmonica as the lead instrument ever. Why you wanna give us the run around? Register for something already!
