WHAT: Orange WHO: Cathy Davis WHY: Interiors and décor crafted by local artisans WHERE: 3007 W. Cary Street
Orange in Carytown is a shop filled with beautifully made furniture, decorations, jewelry and other treasures made by local artisans. The store features collections and pieces crafted by about 78 local artists. Cathy Davis, owner, is one of them. If you want to take a piece of RVA home with you, Orange is the place to find it.
Davis opened Orange about a year-and-a-half ago with the intention of creating an easier way to display and sell her artwork. The name Orange comes from Davis' love for the color orange. “My clouds are always orange. When others are having a grey gloomy day, I am having a bright, pretty day."
Orange hosts classes in the store. Some of the upcoming classes are learning how to create decorative holiday wreaths and holiday centerpieces too add charm to a home. Each class is limited to about ten people and prices range from $25-45 with all supplies included.
Right now, Orange is offering a buy one; get one half-off deal for its classes.
“We love what we do and we love our artists,” Cathy said. Whatever it is you are looking for, there is something for you at Orange!
Orange also stocks some items we featured in a post about the museum shop at the Valentine.
