When: Thursday 8 p.m. Where: the Broadberry What? On Thursday, June 4 music blog RVA Playlist celebrates five years of highlighting the Richmond music scene with a big anniversary show. Local writer Andrew Cothern brings the successful event to the Broadberry to commemorate the success of the online music site.
Bernstein, Goldings and Stewart Trio
When: Thursday 7 p.m. & 9 p.m. Where: Capital Ale House (623 E. Main St.) What? Guitarist Peter Bernstein, organist Larry Goldings, and drummer Bill Stewart make up one of the best organ jazz trios of the past two decades. The respect the musicians have for one another comes through in the subtle and intricate manner of their musical conversation on stage. Indeed, you can hear them listening to each other. Drawing mainly on jazz standards, and a few original pieces, they re-imagine the organ jazz trio in a quiet, sensual, and grooving presentation.
