Come be enthralled in the Spirit and the Art of the Black Doll at the Black Doll Magic Exhibit, Opening November 29th through December 21st. The exhibit illuminates the works of artists Nastassja Swift, Dharah Marcus, Priyah Bhagat, Martha Jones, Erika Cleveland, Unicia Buster, Gletsa Yaa Asantewaa and Rose Kongolizamawi.
The public is invited to learn and immerse themselves in doll making at the Saturday doll making workshops on December 7th and December 14th from 10am-12:30pm, with artist Priyah Bhagat will lead her (Sol Doll workshop/ages 18+) and Gletsa Yaa Asantewaa will lead her ( Artsy Rag Doll workshop/all ages ). The exhibition will also offer a Black Doll Magic talk and discuss on ( The History of The Topsy Turvey Doll ) with artist Erika Cleveland, Friday December 6th at 7pm.
Register on the day of the workshop. $30 materials fee per doll. First come first serve. Limited 25 spaces.
The Shop Black Doll Pop UP market closes out the Exhibit December 21st noon to 5:00pm, along with the Black Doll Magic Exhibit Cinematic screening of ( Why Do You Have Black Dolls) starting at 7:00pm. An award-winning film that that reveals that black dolls are more than just playthings -- they are powerful cultural artifacts that represent the history of the people they depict, produce by Samantha Knowles.
