Quirk Gallery is currently showing the exhibition, Inawezekana: It Will Be Done, by Bukuru Nyandwi in collaboration with Sarah Rowland and Alex Mihalski.
Bukuru’s work centers around life in family and in community. His current series of paintings (produced 2019-2024) put us in touch with the shared joys, the shared struggles, and the shared peace of life in relationship. Bukuru's drawing Girl with Beautiful Hair inspired Alex’s crochet dolls who wear hand blocked textiles that Bukuru and Alex created together. Bukuru's hand-colored botanicals inspired Sarah’s original abstracted wallpaper patterns that joyfully riff & rhyme with the motifs of these multi-figural works.
