Historic Beer Series: GotlandsdrickaVisit Website
We are excited to bring back our beer and lecture series at the Center of the Universe called the "Historic Beer Series." Working in conjunction with the Randolph-Macon College History department, we have developed a series of beer releases and lectures that highlight various periods in time and their effect on all things, well, beer. Enjoy sipping on a pint of history while listening to what influenced its creation!
All Historical Beer Series lectures run from 7:00pm to 8:00 in the private events room and are free to attend. Historical and regular COTU beer offerings are available for purchase.
Gotlandsdricka is a Smoked Norwegian Farmhouse Ale originating on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea just off the coast of Sweden. This drink has been brewed since the Viking era and remains largely the same as it was hundreds of years ago thanks to Nordic farmhouse brewing. It was considered a day-to-day drink and traditionally relies on smoked malts with healthy amount of juniper for its distinctive flavor. Come join the discussion at the brewery to learn more about the history of Viking era drikke brewing and Gotland's unique history!
