The expo is free and open to the public and will be taking place at the James Branch Cabell Library, Lecture Hall (Room 303). The event will feature VCUarts alumni and current students alongside local artists tabling to sell their work. Educational panels hosted by experts in the field will also take place in the library’s Sisisky Board Room (Room 311) for attendees interested in learning about comics.
Current artists that will be attending RICE include VCUarts alumni Shannon Wright and Richmond-based illustrator Theodore Taylor III, as well as many other local artists, VCUarts alums, and current students. In-person panels include a presentation on publishing comics featuring Bill Campbell of Rosarium Publishing and Chris Pitzer of Adhouse Books, as well as the return of our comics roundtable, including Theodore Taylor III and Shannon Wright joined by VCUarts professor Scott Wegener and artist and filmmaker Dash Shaw.
This year, virtual panels taking place on Friday, November 12th and Saturday, November 13th will also be held over Zoom. For a list of this year’s panels and for information on how to attend our virtual events, please visit RICE on Instagram/Twitter @rice_rva or on Facebook @richmondindiecomicexpo.
