Run Richmond 16.19 celebrates Unity in Diversity and commemorates the sacrifices and achievements of our African American brothers & sisters over the past 400 years. Our symbolic courses of 16.19 miles, 16.19 kilometers, and 6.19 miles let you touch & feel black history – up close and personal. Organized by the Djimon Hounsou Foundation in collaboration with the Black History Museum and Sports Backers.
“There is no other city in America where you can visit – in such close proximity – the entirety of the American story. From the landing of Africans in 1619 all the way to the toppling of the Confederate Monuments, there is nowhere else in America where you can understand the arc of the story of the expansion of freedom. Run Richmond 16.19 is the ideal opportunity for people to experience, to feel, to see, to touch … the places that are central to our shared history.” – Marland Buckner, Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia
