Tony Craddock Jr. & Cold Front Live at the Tin Pan

“The maturity of his vision for life and music is quite compelling, and is born out in the sound of his horn...he is destined, in my opinion, to touch many for the Lover of Souls.”
- Kirk Whalum, Grammy Award Winning Saxophonist & Composer

Tony Craddock, Jr. is an emerging jazz saxophonist/recording artist whose music uplifts people, just as a cold front lifts warm air. He is also the bandleader and musical director of Tony Craddock, Jr. & Cold Front.

Tony is set to release his third studio album on March 16, 2018 titled H2O, featuring Grammy Award winning saxophonist Kirk Whalum and chart-topping jazz guitarist Ken Navarro. The album is also produced by Ken Navarro.

In Tony’s words, “Ice, water and water vapor are three weather elements that look different on the surface, yet they share the commonality of their molecular formula H2O. Like these different elements, we as people also look different on the surface, yet we share the common bonds of our humanity.” He wants to encourage people to embrace their commonalities so love and respect will abound.

His previous albums Convection (2013) and Christmas in the Air (2011) are on Pandora Radio and have aired on 45 radio stations throughout the United States, United Kingdom, and Spain. Christmas in the Air has also aired on The Weather Channel’s “Local on the 8s.”

Some of Tony’s performances include the National Anthem for the NBA and WNBA; venues in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area including Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club, Jazz in the Garden at the National Gallery of Art, the U.S. Botanic Garden and the National Harbor; and special events in Michigan, Texas, and Georgia. He has also shared the stage with award-winning artists Ken Navarro, Kim Jordan, Ben Tankard, and Luther Barnes.

His passions for music and weather began at age eight courtesy of the smooth jazz on The Weather Channel’s “Local on the 8s,” which eventually led him to Cornell University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. After graduating, he founded the independent music label Cold Front Music with the mission of uplifting and inspiring people with music that allows them to see their lives through the weather.

Tony believes his music is all about the gifts with which God has blessed him. He hopes to create a sound with, “a consistent blend of melodic simplicity, technical creativity, and the depth and richness of Anita Baker’s voice.” Tony is a native of Northern Virginia and currently lives in the Washington, D.C. area with his wife and daughter.
