Where Massachusetts Avenue crosses Rhode Island Avenue is the Australian Embassy. Take a picture of a sculpture beside it. Clearly, this sculpture means something so email Route 1 if you know! Across the street are two more statues. One is of Winfield Scott, hero of the war against Mexico in 1849. The statute also depicts Scott on his horse, gazing into the distance. Across from Scott is the statue of Daniel Webster, lawyer, statesman, politician, and Secretary of State in 1839 when Britain and America almost went to war over the border between Maine and Canada (remember Fort Kent?).
