Kennett Square

The borough of Kennett Square was made famous by manufacturing mogul and amateur naturalist Pierre du Pont who had his favorite estate here. Du Pont, great, great grandson of the company founder I.E du Pont de Nemours, had purchased the property in the early 1900s, reportedly because he was impressed with trees. Most of them are still on the grounds of the former estate, now renamed Longwood Gardens.
