The northern section of Route 1 starts about a 15-minute drive away from Logan airport, and 10-minutes from either Route 93 or Route 95. While most of Route 1 is devoted to shopping, within it's surrounding area are driving ranges, miniature golf, baseball cages, and of course, a few miles from the Massachusetts coastline and picturesque seaside towns. There is horseback riding near the Lynn Woods reservation, a nice walking park at Breakheart in Saugus,...or you can always go shopping! The southern section of Route 1 starts from the Tobin Bridge in Chelsea. Well-known parks include Deer Island in Winthrop - a 3-mile walking trail with spectacular views of Boston, Pierce Park in East Boston - another incredible view of downtown Boston as well as water jets the kids can run through on a hot day, and of course, Revere Beach, America's oldest public beach. All these communities surround Logan Airport, so travelers to Boston who stay on the North Shore may want to keep within easy commute to the Airport. Boston is just a stop away by train - the 'T'.
