Craft Beer

Fine Creek Brewery is a small relaxed, farm-brewery and taproom offering unique beers in limited production from Thursday to Sunday. From fresh IPA’s and Thai Tea Milk Stout to fruited saisons and barrel aged sours, Fine Creek cover many tastes. 


Skippers Creek Vineyard is a family owned and run winery in Powhatan serving Chardonnay, Viognier, Merriwether, Cabernet Franc and Lily. The tasting room is open during the spring, summer and fall on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-5 p.m. as well as by appointment. 


Powhatan County is a golfer’s paradise with two courses to choose from.

Independence Golf Club is an 18-hole Championship Course with clubhouse, restaurant and event space.

Mill Quarter Plantation Golf Course is an 18-hole course located on the old Randolph plantation.


Village Vibe Concert Series is a summer concert series with live bands, food trucks and fun for the whole family. 

Rockin’ at Independence is a summer concert series at Independence Golf Club held every Thursday evening with live music and food and drinks. 

Powhatan County Fair Activities include carnival rides, food, bands and petting animals. 

Festival of the Grape each October is one of the largest wine festivals in the state of Virginia. With over 21 wineries, craft vendors, food trucks, distilleries and live bands.

Powhatan’s Festival of Fiber is an annual celebration of the many fiber animals, fiber farmers and fiber artisans. Festival includes vendors, food, petting animals, demonstrations, hands-on fiber crafts and prizes. 

Festival of the Horse & AG Expo each May celebrates all things horse with a horse show, vendors, silent & live auction, livestock and equine demonstrations.

Powhatan Bullnanza features bull riding, barrel racing, mutton busting and a mechanical bull each spring on Rocky Oak Farm.

Parks and Destinations

Powhatan State Park includes three canoe slide launches along the James River, walking trails, horseback riding trails and camping sites including three yurts for rentals. The park also has various shelters for picnics and a playground. 

Fighting Creek Park is located near the Village of Powhatan. There are four baseball/softball fields, soccer fields as well as multiple trails including a quarter, half mile and two and half mile loops. The park also has playgrounds and picnic areas to enjoy.
