Working to expand sports tourism in the Richmond region

Sports tourism is booming in the Richmond Region. In fiscal year 2024, events booked through Richmond Region Tourism brought an impressive $107 million to our region. To keep this momentum going, the Richmond Region Tourism Foundation is offering grants to help local sports organizations grow and enhance their tournaments and events.

Our Sports Grant program is all about bringing in more visitors from outside the region—teams, participants, spectators, and their families. Grant recipients can use the funds to boost their event marketing or make the visitor experience unforgettable.

We invite local sports organizations to apply for these grants and help us make the Richmond Region the ultimate destination for sports!

Applications will open on September 1st, 2024 providing ample time for interested parties to prepare their applications. The submission deadline is November 1st, 2024. A review process will take place from November 2nd, 2024 to December 6th, 2024, during which our review committee will carefully evaluate each application. Successful applicants will be notified in December 2024, and the formal announcement of grant recipients will be made on February 8th, 2025 at the RVA Sports Awards.
