THE RICHMOND

REGION GAME PLAN

Things To Do, Only In The Richmond Region

(NOTE: THERE’S A LOT)

If you’re a planner, let the list-making begin. Start by checking out the region’s one-of-a-kind outdoors scene. Go rock climbing, hiking or mountain biking on an island that’s right downtown. Rent a bike and do the 52-mile Capital Trail. Take on the class III and IV rapids of the James. Schedule your visit to run in the Richmond Marathon or Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k, or compete in the Dominion Energy Riverrock festival.

Check out our famous arts scene, too. Between street murals, galleries, the VMFA and the Institute for Contemporary Art, you’ll feel the vibe of our creative culture everywhere. And of course, you’ll want to take some notes from our Eat section, and find out why we’ve been named one of the best foodie towns in America. Or, sample your way through the Richmond Beer Trail, and you’ll understand why we’ve earned acclaim as an international destination for craft beer.

This is the Richmond Region, and we’re walkable. We’re dog-friendly. We’re everyone-friendly – a place where inclusion is evident in efforts like BLK RVA and OutRVA

Between it all, you can see where Patrick Henry said, “Give me liberty or give me death.” Where Kehinde Wiley has reinterpreted the American hero with his modern monument, Rumors of War. And where Pocahontas, Edgar Alan Poe, Thomas Jefferson and Arthur Ashe called home.

If you have kids, let’s wear them out with romps through petting zoos, theme parks and hands-on museums. If you’re a shopper, come with extra room in your suitcase or trunk, because this region has everything from high-end national retailers to one-of-a-kind local boutiques. If you have a pack of friends who need a getaway, or a significant other you want to surprise, or just a great big wish to see something cool and different, bring it. Scroll down, read on, and let’s do Richmond.
