Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender Diversity Guide
The Richmond Region has an active and growing gay scene. A variety of businesses, including bookstores, thrift stores and restaurants, serve as gathering places and support the Region's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. At Diversity Thrift, all proceeds from the store's sales are used to support the Region's gay community. Godfrey's offers Sunday brunch with unique cross-dressing entertainment, while Phoenix Rising is the area's only gay and lesbian bookstore. If you're looking for other gay and gay-friendly businesses, check out the Lambda Directory, distributed at area bars, stores and other locations. For gay-friendly events, happenings, and discussion, check out GayRVA.com. You can also see what's happening with the GLBT Calendar of Events.
The Gay Pride Festival is an annual celebration held each fall in one of the area's outdoor parks, and each summer, Gay Day is held at Kings Dominion, the area's amusement park. Whether exploring the Region's nightlife or browsing in our shops, gay visitors should feel right at home in our Region. Check out our cultural festivals sampler.
