The Richmond region’s must-sees and must-dos

Good thing you brought comfy sneakers

We have a game plan for you – let’s start with the great outdoors! Rent some bikes and ride the Virginia Capital Trail – it goes along the James River from here to Williamsburg. Or rent a kayak or whitewater raft and take on the class IV rapids, which cut right through downtown. An urban heron rookery. A climbing wall with views of the city skyline. This place is all about healthy fun.

You can even tour our art outside, since there are more than 100 street murals here. Or check out the world-renowned Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, home to the must-see Rumors of War statue.

Here, after the games are done, you can gather up the family and head out to acres and acres of parks, petting zoos, historic sites, the Science Museum, the Children’s Museum, and of course, Kings Dominion. Shop the cool and funky boutiques of Carytown, home to a historic movie theater with its own Saturday night organ player. Or take the fam thrifting, to the awesome outdoor malls, or antiquing in the countryside. And if you’re hungry along the way, you’re in luck. This region is foodie central.

Read more about it in our Things to Do section. Check out our suggested itineraries. And remember to check out the special discounts to save on your RVA experience. Because your sports destination is your playground destination, too.
