Sally Bell’s Kitchen

Sally Bell's has been famous since 1924 for baked goods and box lunches with homemade sandwiches, cupcakes, and—especially!—potato salad. Takeout only; closed weekends.
Sarah (“Sallie”) Cabell Jones and Elizabeth Lee Milton were friends who in 1924 opened Sarah Lee Kitchen (later renamed to avoid confusion with the “other” Sara Lee) a few doors away from its present location. Besides pies and cakes, the Kitchen is known for its Sally Lunn bread. For many Richmonders, however, no holiday meal is complete without Sally Bell’s potato salad, made from scratch daily. But when it’s gone, it’s gone, so order early!
