Music in the Richmond Region
See it live, Feel the love
Maybe you’re into giant national acts. Or maybe you’d rather check out that indie performer who doesn’t have a huge following but oh, you love them. This region has the full gamut.
Just look at the Richmond Folk Festival. More than 200,000 people head to the riverfront every October to hear music from all over the world – and it’s all free. Venues like The National, The Broadberry, The Tin Pan, Innsbrook After Hours and Virginia Credit Union LIVE! at Richmond Raceway draw in big-name acts, and clubs all over the region book everything from rock to hip hop to alt country and everything in between. Don’t miss Friday Cheers, an early summer, outdoor concert series on Brown’s Island, or the Richmond Jazz Festival in the summer. Pocahontas Premieres brings big-arena experiences to Virginia’s most visited state park. We’re also home to Spacebomb Records, the No BS! Brass Band (make their song “RVA All Day” your trip’s theme), Natalie Prass, Carbon Leaf, Matthew E. White, and the monstrous legends, GWAR. Jam on, friend.
