Getting Around Richmond VA

Welcome to an easy-to-navigate destination

The Richmond region covers a pretty big area, but as the locals say, you can get pretty much anywhere in 20 minutes. Within minutes, you can go from the bustle of downtown to rolling farmlands, state and national parks and historic landmarks

By Car

Here, traffic means it might take 10 minutes to get somewhere instead of 5. Want to let somebody else take the wheel? Relax in a taxi, Uber or Lyft.

By Bike

This is a big biking town – we’ve got dedicated lanes through downtown and the Virginia Capital Trail that can take you all the way to Williamsburg. There are plenty of places to rent a bike. Choose from electric or people-powered.

By Segway

The Segway is more than a means of transportation; it’s an experience unlike anything you’ve tried before. Instead of lacing up your walking shoes or piling into the car, experience a Segway Tour as you take in some of Richmond’s most postcard-worthy sites.

By Bus, By Foot
The Richmond region is walkable. Whether you’re staying at a downtown hotel or walking from your hotel to shopping at Short Pump Town Center, this is a pedestrian-friendly place. You can also hop on a GRTC bus to get from one side to the other or grab the GRTC Pulse for rapid bus transit.
