Parks in the Richmond Region
We’ve made a great big play space for you
The Richmond region’s James River Park system is a carefully developed and maintained playground, with everything from kayaking and rafting to hidden spots to enjoy a picnic and read a book. The South of the James Farmers Market takes over Forest Hill Park every Saturday morning, year-round. Hadad’s Lake is a throwback to mid-century adventure parks with rope swings and slides. Huguenot Park and Pocahontas State Park are perfect for calm walks, and Pony Pasture is popular for taking a dip in the river. More treasures: Richmond National Battlefield Park, historic Byrd Park, Deep Run Park in Henrico, Pole Green Park in Hanover, Libby Hill Park on Church Hill (the view of the city – gasp!) – and dozens of others across the region
