A big renovation at the Richmond Marriott Downtown: Ten years after a $14 million face-lift, Richmond Marriott Downtown has rolled out another multimillion-dollar makeover. The renovation, completed in December 2020, modernized the 413-room hotel, adjacent to the Greater Richmond Convention Center with newly renovated guest rooms and a luxurious lobby offering destination dining. The property’s new Next Gen Meeting Space includes flexible set up options that are able to adapt to a variety of formats and group sizes. The space offers pivotable walls, moveable partitions, soft seating and modular furniture to ensure every team’s meeting space is perfectly suited to their needs.

Taking a digital-first approach to events: As we return to live, in-person events, the digital experience shouldn’t be an afterthought but rather the first thing to consider. Successful Meetings shares why we must continue to apply digital engagement strategies to organize creative, compelling and engaging meeting content. We agree – the Richmond Region Tourism team has experience executing successful hybrid events and can help clients engage attendees in-person and virtually.

Tourism increases in RVA: Virginia and the Richmond region are open and tourism is on the rise. “We are very, very optimistic that 2021 is going to fair out pretty well,” said Jack Berry, Richmond Region Tourism CEO & President in an interview with the city’s ABC affiliate. Check out the story, which also includes perspective from Greater Richmond Convention Center General Manager Michael Meyers.

3 health-screening solutions for the return to in-person events: We know prioritizing health and safety at meetings and conventions will continue to be important as in-person events resume. Meetings Today has a few smartphone app ideas for pre-screening attendees and communicating about COVID-19 protocols.

Improvements at the Greater Richmond Convention Center: Last year, Virginia’s largest meeting and exhibition facility undertook a broad array of cosmetic and aesthetic improvements as well as new safeguards designed to put a premium on visitors’ health and wellbeing. The facility is ready for your next event. Some of the enhancements include new LED lighting, monitors, digital signage, and a digital sound system as well as new tile, accents and paint scheme.
