Give Me History!

In the Richmond Region

There’s no shortage of history in Richmond VA. Get started at the awe-inspiring Virginia Capitol, designed by Thomas Jefferson and visited by Queen Elizabeth. Watch reenactors revive the Second Continental Congress made famous by Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty, Or Give Me Death” speech at St. John’s Church in Church Hill. Follow the Revolutionary Trail to see where Henry argued legal cases and spent his free time at Hanover Courthouse and Hanover Tavern. Stand amongst the Civil War cannon at Malvern Hill Battlefield and visit Robert E. Lee’s 1862 headquarters, now the Dabbs House Museum. Walk back 400 years in time at Henricus Historical Park. Henricus celebrates the second successful English settlement in the new world with engaging educational programs, events and an annual beer festival where hops are grown on site.
