The department provides a wide range of quality recreation, parks, and park services to the community. With its Major League-style field dugouts and full-service concessions, historic Shepherd Stadium, which has seating for 2,000, has hosted the Tri-City Chili Peppers Cosmic Baseball Series and the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) State Championship in the past.
